As I was on my way to Cyprus for a family holiday I thought to myself it would be lovely to see the sunrise this holiday, I didn't know when or where this would take place. I was lucky enough to have an East-facing room with a view of the sea. One of the mornings, I suddenly woke up at 5.25am, normally, on holiday, I would go back to sleep. And even though I was still quite groggy I got up and looked through the curtains. There was a hue of light orange across the horizon. It was as if everything had contrived for me to have this moment to watch the sun rise and so I took the bate!
I sat on the balcony and watched the bird murmurations - large groups swooning up and down, making great swaying patterns in the sky and their morning song filled the air that was already heating up. The distant hue of orange deepened.
I looked at the weather app on my phone. The sun was due to rise precisely at 5.39am. I waited silently to watch and then to my delight the sun simply popped up over the horizon, it was exactly at 5.39am! Everything seemed to stop just for for a moment. It took my breath away.
It is one of those moments where everything synchronised for me to have my wish fulfilled! An amazing sight that words cannot describe but the immense feeling of oneness with beauty I felt is etched in to my memory. What also amazed me was the human talent that had allowed me to know with such precision what time the sun would rise.
